Where do we find common ground? At the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, this thought-provoking series explores how cultural heritage art forms both shape and reflect meaning, identity, and community. While artistic traditions often highlight differences, and some assume there is a universal artistic language, this program invites audiences to dig deeper and thoughtfully challenge both perspectives.
Each session brings together traditional artists rooted in distinct cultural traditions to demonstrate their craft, exchange insights, and explore both the similarities and contrasts within their art forms. In this featured conversation, Kathak dancer Rachna Agrawal and Flamenco dancer Yohanna Escamilla share the stage to discuss and demonstrate their respective dance traditions. Through performance and dialogue, they illuminate the rhythms, histories, and expressive elements that connect and distinguish their practices.
Audience members are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and engage in this dynamic exchange of culture, movement, and shared understanding.
