The many gardens that surround the Smithsonian are a “museum without walls.” All have been designed to complement the museums they border and to enhance the overall museum experience of learning, appreciation, and enjoyment. See the map of all Smithsonian Gardens.

Visitors are invited to identify themselves as inventive problem solvers who can become “game changers” in their daily lives. In addition to hands-on activities in the gallery’s four key sections, the adjacent Draper Spark!Lab will also feature themed activities.

Gardens including a formal parterre, a pollination garden, a WWII vegetable garden, seasonal plants and more.

Haupt Garden open daily dawn to dusk except Dec. 25; other outdoor gardens open 24 hours
