About Revue Cinema

Steeped in over a century of cinematic history, Revue Cinema stands as Toronto's oldest operating movie theatre, a beautifully preserved landmark on Roncesvalles Avenue where community and culture converge. Built in 1912 and lovingly maintained, its heritage facade opens to an intimate 236-seat auditorium where the flicker of 35mm and digital projection fills the room with nostalgic warmth. The softly arched ceiling, vintage marquee lighting, and rich acoustics evoke the golden age of film while embracing the innovation of contemporary cinema. Operated by the not-for-profit Revue Film Society, the theatre curates an eclectic program of classics, new releases, and live-hosted series that transform ordinary screenings into shared cultural events. The scent of fresh popcorn mingles with the quiet hum of anticipation before each show, capturing the timeless magic of the big screen. Whether for film festivals, private rentals, or community gatherings, Revue Cinema offers an authentic, character-filled space that connects audiences through the enduring art of storytelling.
